He shot at 'everyone he saw': Atlanta spa workers recount horrors of shooting

Broke an exclusive story on the surviving victims of the Atlanta spa shootings that killed eight people on March 16. Six of the victims were women of Asian descent.

I was sent to Atlanta for some on-the-ground reporting. Within a five-day span, I wrote three stories on the shootings: an obituary, exclusive and community profile — featuring my photography and interviews with Rep. Sam Park (D-GA), among other legislators.

After door-knocking on people's homes, attending multiple rallies and following up on countless calls, I spoke with two survivors of the shootings and three of the victims' family members.

Youn Yuh-jung is just not that into Hollywood

Profiled best-supporting actress Oscar winner Youn Yuh-Jung after her historic win, in a co-byline with Stella Kim.

Wrote the 1,100-word story based on interviews Youn shared with NBC's Kim, focusing on her thoughts on Hollywood and background as a working single mom.

Translated and included a 40-minute news conference hosted by the South Korean Consulate General, as well as local media coverage on the actress.
'A sad and glorious history':
One of NYC's last Chinese hand laundries closes

A 3,000-word investigative feature on one of the last Chinese hand laundries closing in Manhattan due to COVID-19.

The story was initially an 800-word assignment but published as a long-form narrative that delved into the legacy of discriminatory laws targeting the laundry industry dominated by Chinese immigrants, as well as the rise and fall of business wear.

Spoke with the owner and several of his family members, long-time customers, artists and local community leaders. My photography also appeared in the story.
